The “Red” era begins again with the upcoming release of “Red (Taylor’s Version)”
Grab your tissues because “sad girl autumn” is fastly approaching.
Following the immense success of “Fearless (Taylor’s Version),” Taylor Swift is releasing her second highly anticipated re-recording of her iconic album ‘Red,’ titled ‘Red (Taylor’s Version).’ This 30 track rock/pop/country album will release on Nov. 12, with possible singles releasing sometime soon.
“I think this album will be a lot more vulnerable than her previous album. I think the ‘original’ ‘Red’ wasn’t fully in her control, but now I think she has the freedom to do what she wants with it,” junior Alana Winn said.
The release of the Grammy-award winning album “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” was prefaced with several subtle Easter eggs by the music star. So it was expected by her fans that Swift would give “Red (Taylor’s Version)” the same treatment. To everyone’s surprise on Aug. 5, Taylor released a cryptic video of songs “From the Vault,” and encouraged fans to decode the mysterious words. Theories flowed from left and right, but ultimately the answer was revealed; it was not a crossword, like many fans had thought, but a word search.
“I tried to solve the word search, but unfortunately didn’t finish since it’s not my strong suit. I loved the concept of it; I thought it was really creative and on brand for Taylor Swift,” junior Ria Rao said.
Some fan-favorites include the radio singles ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ and ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,’ but there were some major additions to the album. Popular artists Phoebe Bridgers, Ed Sheeran, and Chris Stapleton will make their “Red” debut on November 19th.
Along with the post, Taylor announced the songs that would be joining the tracklist on her version. Some of the new songs on the album are ‘Better Man (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault),’ ‘Message in a Bottle (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault),’ ‘Forever Winter (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault),’ and ‘The Very First Night (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault).’
To ensure a thorough tugging of the heartstrings, Swift is adding a fan favourite song with a bit of a twist; a ten minute long version of ‘All Too Well.’ This song covers the aftermath of heartbreak as Swift looks back at the relationship, remembering it “all too well.”
“I’m so excited for that one. ‘All Too Well’ is my favorite Taylor Swift song, and it so sad and heartbreaking, and she’s been saying for years ‘I made a 10 minute version of ‘All Too Well,’ I’m just letting you guys know,’ but she never said she was going to release it, so now that she’s doing the re-recordings she can release it, it’s very exciting,” senior Charlotte Nite said.
Another hard hitting song on the album is ‘Ronan.’ Taylor wrote this about a little four year old boy who passed away of cancer. Taylor met with Ronan’s mother after seeing her blog posts. This is an extremely emotional song, and many people say they cannot listen to it without sobbing.
There are many theories about the re-release, as to when the first single will be dropped, and which era we are in, as Swift surprise dropped ‘Wildest Dreams TV.’ Taylor has remained relatively silent on anything to do with the album, but more information should be on the way soon, she always has a way of dropping things when everyone least expects it.
Taylor Swift fans everywhere should keep their eyes and ears peeled for new news, as Nov. 12 steadily approaches us. With Swift’s unpredictability, anything is possible at this moment in time!
