Assistant Principals Marquet and Johnson say farewell to Mission Hills
With bittersweet congratulations, we announce the departure of two Assistant Principals this weekend: Amy Johnson and Todd Marquet. These two staff members have been integral parts of the Grizzly family for over eight years, and will be sorely missed.
Amy Johnson has been a part of the SMUSD school system through Woodland Park and Mission Hills. Johnson attended the University of Arizona and earned her Masters in Education from National University. For seven years, she was a language arts teacher as well as the department head at Woodland Park Middle School before making the switch to assistant principal for Mission Hills.
Todd Marquet moved to San Marcos from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has been here for around 20 years. A well traveled man, Marquet attended Colgate University in New York and taught English in Costa Rica, Guatemala. He first taught English as a San Marcos Knight, before coming home to Mission Hills.
Both assistant principals will be moving forward in different directions. Johnson will be the new Secondary Coordinator of Learning Loss in the Bonsall School District, and Marquet will be staying in SMUSD as the newest assistant principal of Joli Ann Leichtag Elementary School representing the blue and yellow.
We wish you both luck in your next chapters, and we thank you for all the things you’ve done to improve and serve this Grizzly community.
Once a Grizzly, always a Grizzly.
