Coach Menchaca is a stellar representation of the famous quote, “Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life.” He teaches fourth grade at Monte Vista Elementary School, and loves the opportunity it gives him to inspire kids in the same way he was inspired as a student. When asked why he chose to add cross country at MHHS to his plethora of jobs, he explained that it was all due to the nature of coaching it.
“I became a cross country coach because I have a love for the sport, and it’s something that’s helped carry me through my life in a positive way,” said Menchaca.
While he loves to coach and considers it a fun hobby, he also enjoys many others as well.
“On Sundays, I just sit down, read the newspaper for three hours, and try not to check my phone,” said Menchaca.
He reads the old-school paper copy of L.A. Times, and feels it’s a relaxing yet productive way to use his time.
