Mr. Ruiz is a substitute teacher here at Mission Hills, and he also coaches junior varsity lacrosse. After he graduated high school, he went to UC Riverside, where he majored in physics. He was not sure he wanted to be a teacher when he was studying, but he explained that tutoring changed that.
“When I was in high school, I knew that I would enjoy being a teacher, but I wasn’t sure. It wasn’t until I started working as an AVID tutor where I discovered that working in a classroom was a lot of fun,” said Ruiz.
His love of teaching has continued to grow since that day, and he is now here as a teacher at MHHS. He is now substituting for biology and chemistry, and has applied to be the teacher for one of those classes in the near future. In his free time, he enjoys listening to any type of music and going to Beyond and Tomorrow Land concerts when he gets the chance too.
