Kyra Capezzone is a student of creativity and dedication, and she has proven to everyone how well she can use her skillset. She is involved at Mission Hills in many ways, including clubs such as the Black Student Union and Mock Trial. As an outstanding member of the Class of 2023, Capezzone is making an incredible mark on staff and students at MHHS.

“I would say my biggest achievement during high school was everything that I have done with the Black Student Union and getting our voices heard. We have gotten the attention of the district and even the mayor of San Marcos. I hope that what I do now can continue and grow after I leave,” Capezzone said.
Capezzone has facilitated expansive work with the Black Student Union, and in Mock Trial Club, she won the MVP award. Others agree that Capezzone is a wonderful student due to her kindness and determination.

“Kyra is such an encouragement. Her ability to not only overcome hardship, but to do so with such a positive attitude is inspiring. She brings a light to any situation and is the rising tide that raises all boats. She reminds me why I teach and renews my hope for our future. I consider myself fortunate and blessed to know Kyra and she is one that I suspect will move mountains in this world,” said Erin Lucas, Art History and English teacher.
Although one may congratulate her for her academic achievements, Capezzone is extremely creative as well, and she is sure to use this creative side well after high school. She has always brought her passion into all of her endeavors, even participating in a short film over the summer of 2022.
“I plan to go to Boston University and study film and television production. I want to be a director and writer for horror films and other films as well,” Capezzone said.
Students, teachers, and staff can all agree on the high probability for success Capezzone’s aspirations have, but she wishes to provide underclassmen a word of advice before leaving.

“Take breaks. Don’t be afraid to email teachers asking for help or more time. Take a mental health day if you need it and are feeling overwhelmed,” Capezzone said.
Kyra has been a role model for many people throughout her high school journey and will continue to inspire everyone in college. Not only has she accomplished many things, but she has reached the hearts of everyone around her.
