Grizzly girls tennis team after a win against Ramona

Girls Tennis going into CIF with strong momentum
The Mission Hills Girls Varsity Tennis team had an outstanding year so far, nearly going undefeated in league with a record of eight to one. Their JV team also performed well going undefeated in league. Now, the varsity team is ready to carry their winning spirit into CIF.
“My favorite game this season was when we played Poway because my doubles partner Taylor and I had to play a tiebreaker in the dark,” senior SeRi McMahon said.
Their season started with an early loss against Mt. Carmel, losing 13 to five. Since then the Grizzlies wreaked havoc on their opponents, winning most of their games while scoring in the double digits.
“Towards the beginning of the season, there were a lot of new faces this year but after winning multiple matches and singing on long bus rides together, the team has developed one big strong friendship,” senior McMahon explained.
Their senior night was against Escondido High School on Friday, Oct. 7th where they won sixteen to two.
“My favorite game this season was against Escondido for our senior night because it was really special and I felt recognized,” senior Chelsea Johnson said. “I played one of my matches and didn’t lose a single point the entire time!”
They came out victorious in their latest game against Ramona High School, giving them some momentum to go into CIF with. It was the Grizzlies’ last league game and the stakes were high.
“The last league game was extremely important because it determined whether or not we won [the] league or not,” senior McMahon said.
“It ended up coming down to the last match in order for us to at least tie. We tied nine to nine and won 80 to 70 in points!” senior Johnson stated.
“I had a lot of faith in my team though so I wasn’t that worried, but I was trying to savor and make as many memories with the other seniors as I could because this was my last league match ever in high school,” senior McMahon expressed.

No matter what happens next, the Girl’s Varsity Tennis team has had a great year so far. Now it’s up to us and their fellow Grizzlies to cheer them on through CIF.
