Here at Mission Hills, students are very fortunate to have the ability to take AVID. The class is a huge benefit for students—especially for college applications. Students all over school take AVID for its benefits.
Cesar Guzman, who is a current AVID student and a former vice president for the class, shared his thoughts.
“AVID is amazing; it creates such an advantage for students who take it, especially during senior year when we are preparing for college applications,” said junior Guzman.
Guzman elaborated on how AVID is a great opportunity for students who want to go to college. He explained that it gives one the advantage of filling out a college application.
Another AVID student, Adolfo Damacio, also shared his thoughts about the class.
“AVID is a great opportunity for everyone; it helped me in all my classes since every week we do tutorials, which help us on our struggles from our class,” said junior Damacio.
Damacio expanded on the class: in class, every week, they get in groups to express a difficult problem they faced in class that week. They do this so people in the group can help others with whatever they are struggling with. People in AVID get help every day with whatever they need.
Xavi Ortiz, another AVID junior, had experiences to provide as well.
“It’s a great program to be a part of and many should join, as I became a better student with it,” said Ortiz.
Everyone should consider the class for next year, as they may be able to get better and become a better student.
