Many have considered Goldfish Crackers to be one of the greatest snack foods of all time. With well over 20 flavors to choose from, many have also asked which one is the greatest. Students at Mission Hills have different opinions on which goldfish flavor they deem the best.
“I think that rainbow is the best flavor because it combines healthy with tasty,” freshman Jason Faulkner said.
Many would believe parmesan to be the definitive best flavor, since the rainbow’s cheese taste is not too sharp but still has lots of flavor. According to the Pepperidge Farms Website, the rainbow flavor’s color is a result of beet juice dye, which adds a pleasant sweetness to the goldfish. The sweetness of the dye pairs exquisitely with the salt that’s on the outside. This flavor is a standout because of its unique ingredients and salty taste.
“I’m not a fan of the whole grain flavor at all because it tastes very bad to me,” freshman Ali Zahir said.
The whole grain flavor falls dead last for a solid reason. Its taste is reminiscent of Wheat Thins, but without the salt. Its flavor leaves much to be desired and eating them was not exceptionally enjoyable. Similarly, the pizza flavor lacked the taste to rank high on this list. The pizza flavor had a hint of cheese coated on the outside, however it was almost too subtle to taste. It did not taste relatively close to real pizza but more like a sharp cheddar.
“A garlic bread flavor would go crazy,” said junior Presley Delgado.
A flavor resembling that of garlic bread could very well be delicious. Garlic goes well on bread and crackers, so a goldfish flavor with similar taste would probably be tasty. There are many other flavors, such as chocolate or cinnamon, that could be great for dessert flavored goldfish. Goldfish already has a “grahams” line of crackers, which are desert oriented, so it would make sense to add these new flavors to that line.
After a taste test, this is a personal top 10 goldfish flavor ranking with number one being the highest ranked flavor.
