Jocelynn Beltran books it out of here

With a luminous smile, Jocelynn Beltran bids adieu to her home away from home of four years.

Story by Salma Ramirez, Co-Editor in Chief

Jocelynn Beltran—your dream girl, the kind of girl that belongs in an indie, coming of age movie. We applaud her creative wit, sarcasm, and strange abilities: saying the alphabet backwards in less than 10 seconds, knowing the artist and title of almost any song that comes on, and falling asleep anywhere. This boba-loving bibliophile breaks our heart one last time as she says goodbye.

“I have been indelibly blessed to have had Jocelynn Beltran in journalism for three years under my tutelage. No other freshman has ever been so brilliantly adept with computer skills while at the same time truly an artist with words. Her preponderance of perfectly precise words pierce each page, and she has spent hours selflessly helping every other staff writer and editor to ensure that the paper was of the deepest thought and the nation’s highest caliber. In school history, only one other person has ever been worthy of carrying the Chief Editor position twice, and Jocelynn is a hero among heroes for doing it so valiantly,” said Mrs. Newman, the former journalism advisor.

Beltran’s struggle for stability and happiness along with her academic achievements provides a unique model for success. As an Academic League captain, AP Ambassador, section leader of the Cardinal Alliance hornline, and an Editor in Chief of the Silvertip, Beltran leaves big shoes—Dr. Martens, of course—to fill at Mission Hills as her legacy lives on.

College will come naturally to Beltran, but Jocelynn is soul-searching for a fulfilling future before making life-altering decisions.
