Grizzly athletes celebrated as they signed a contract to further continue their future athletic careers.

“Student signing day is when a student signs a binding to a national letter of intent, which most people are familiar with as NLI,” Mr. Zapata, sports director said.

First, students verbally commit by declaring that they want to attend the college they have been offered acceptance to, but it is only made official when they sign a document. Signing day benefits all students that are considered athletes, because it gives students the opportunity to represent themselves on a bigger stage, as well as expand their personal traits; athletes learn commitment, responsibility, integrity, and most importantly, teamwork.

From being an athlete, your contribution allows other high schools to take notice of our amazing Grizzlies’ competitiveness, which gives us a feeling of importance within the community’s athletic department.

“Signing day is important, because it is a day where families and coaches come together to support their student athlete on taking a further step into their success,” Maya Occiano (12) said.

Occiano is one of the five students who was celebrated; her skills in track are unparalleled, resulting in her signing to attend Fullerton College to further her athletic career.

An important role that takes place in becoming successful in life includes flexibility.

“Being able to take a step back to reflect on what life throws at you is an important part of flexibility, because you are not going to always get what you plan for,” Isaac Anderson (12) said.

Anderson will be attending Western Colorado to play football.

These students have accomplished this through hard work and dedication which is a very valuable skill and is one of the most important principles to having a successful career.
