With a Democrat controlled house, it is much harder for President Trump to get his point across. Trump requested around five billion dollars, coincidentally, we (as in the nation) already spend around 5 billion dollars a year on border security. Most of these costs stem from supplies for agents, payroll, and other costs that could be reduced with the building of the wall. The wall would allow for fewer supplies to be required, fewer agents would have to be on the border at a time. The wall would be able to protect agents from rocks thrown by immigrants and gangs, making the border protection jobs safer for many U.S. workers. The border wall wouldn’t prevent immigration, it would just keep it legal and controllable. Unfortunately, the predominantly Democratic house refused to listen to these valid claims, denouncing them as if border security wasn’t necessary. The president had to play his cards in order to be heard, so he did (I guess you could say he pulled his Trump card). Illegal Immigration is not a victimless crime.
