Mission Hills Girls lacrosse fights against Sage Creek. Senior Lucy Garrity, preparing to catch the lacrosse ball and dominate the field. "I have an advantage because I'm like 6 feet tall," said Garrity.
Being a senior, Lucy Garrity says she needs to settle on the university she will be attending in the fall. After a successful high school career filled with challenges, Garrity is ready to embark on her journey through adulthood. While having her volleyball team win CIF, Garrity has had an eventful lacrosse season, even tearing her ACL for the second time. Throughout this chaos, Garrity still found a way to enjoy the rest of her final year of High School.
During the fall, Garrity always showed her school spirit at the football games. Her highlights include going to Arizona with her Volleyball team and winning CIF. Garrity wishes she wasn’t so hard on herself with her academic and athletic success, as it can take a toll on a student athlete’s mental and physical health. As Garrity leaves, she wishes to leave advice for incoming freshmen and lowerclassmen.
“Make the most of your time, and do not let other people’s opinions of you ruin your time. Take risks and don’t be afraid of failure,” Garrity said.
Even though Lucy is still figuring out what career choice she will take, she has an idea of what area of jobs she’s looking for; she has always been a fan of true crime and other shows of the sort.
Lucy will be attending the University of Oregon and majoring in Criminology and Law. While college admissions were brutal this year, Garrity is still excited about where she will be attending. While looking for the right school, Garrity explained she wanted to attend a school that felt like home. Another factor that played a role in where she was going was the sports and academics.
“I chose Oregon because I was drawn to the beautiful campus and the school spirit that is so prominent at the University of Oregon. I was looking for a campus I would be happy at while also looking for a school I could watch good sports at,” Garrity said.
Searching for the right college may seem daunting. However, one school will always feel like home.
“It took me a long time to decide, but I know Oregon is where I am meant to be,” Garrity said.
